This Weekend-Saturday

Saturday I spent the day with my friend Debbie Clark in Coeur d' Alene at the croc center. It was a scrapbooking "boot-camp" class! 12 hours of scrapping! I only stayed for about 10 because I was getting tired and had to drive home that night, but I had a really fun time. I made over 25 cards and learned how to make a new type of paper-bag book! Here are some photos of my time :)

Debbie and I had huge round tables to spread all of our stuff out on.

One of the ladies was selling some great stamps and I bought a set for only $5! They are regularly like $18 stamps! My favorite stamp in the set was this quote below...I ended up using this stamp for many of my cards. They will be perfect "thank you" cards for baby gifts :)

Simple cards, but I really love how they turned out :) What a super fun day!

This weekend-Friday

I had a lovely weekend and I hope you did too!

Friday night was a "Love Feast" at our church (basically like a potluck, everybody brings lots of yummy food). I ate wayyy too much! I made 2 new recipes from allrecepies.com

1) Alyson's Broccali Salad   (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/alysons-broccoli-salad-2/detail.aspx) This recipe made the PERFECT salad. It was delicious!

2) Molly's Chicken (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/mollys-chicken/detail.aspx) It was ok, but I probably wouldn't make it again.

For dessert I cheated and used a boxed salted carameal cookie from Costco. They surprisingly turned out REALLY REALLY yummy. Sometimes boxed is best. I know that is how I feel about brownies!

 

It is always fun trying out new recipes :) I will post about my Saturday tomorrow. I had a fun day full of scrap-booking!

Project Life

I have been swept into the PROJECT LIFE frenzy and I am loving it! My friend Debbie Clark bought me all of the stuff to get started as an early baby gift. Talk about a GREAT way to scrapbook/keep track of all the little moments in life that so easily we forget. This book is going to be about pregnancyand Levi's  first year. I have already started some of the pages about my pregnancy journey. Enjoy!

Well Folks, The Letters are Up!!

The letters are up!!! We decided since we are currently renting this lovely house, we better not put a million nail holes in the wall.

1) So I bought 2 long pieces of wood from Lowe's and painted them the same blue as the wall. (this was my hubby's idea! isn't he smart??) 

2) We then used small nails and hot glue to place the letters on the wood. Having these 2 wood strips made it a LOT easier to space out the letters and get them in the perfect place too.

Our little boy is going to know his A B C's at a very young age!

What a FUN project this was! Thanks again for everyone who contributed letters! You guys are awesome!

What will Levi be like?

Okay folks, I just need to gush! I need to tell you all how in love I already am with my little
Levi Orlando Barragan and how excited I am to hold him and kiss him and hug him......I just can't wait to meet this little miniature mix of Orlando and I. I know that it will be a lot of years of hard work, but I am excited to start that journey.

I am also insanely curious of how this little bugger is going to look. Will he have darker or lighter features? Will he have my nose or Orlando's nose? Will he have a full head of hair or no hair when he is born? I just can't wait to find out!

Possibly he will look like a mix of Orlando and I, but there is also a possibility he will look completely different that either of us!

Scrub-a-Dub-Dub!!

This was a fun one! I got these frames from a garage sale last summe for FREE (thank you Becky Casto). I knew I wouldn't use them with the fruit pictures inside of them but I was not sure what I would do with them until recently! Here is how they looked before.

Our main bathroom is pretty plain besides the shower curtian. The main wall really needed some help.

Sooo, I decided, since that since this will be the bathroom that Levi gets his baths, I should make it a little more kid friendly. Nothing can make a bathroom more cheery than some rubber duckies!!

Sorry the lighting is not so great, but I thought it turned it pretty darn cute :)

Project Baby Room: Dresser Makeover

This dresser is VERY old. It was my grandpa's, then he gave it to my dad, then it was my brothers for many years, then when I moved to the downstairs room at home, it became mine. It used to be dark blue, then about 5 years ago we painted it white. But, over the years the white started to look a bit dirty. When my mom asked if I wanted it for the baby room, I thought "oh this would be a fun project!!" Also, dressers are expensive and I figured if I would save a TON of money by just buying paint and new handles. I wish I would have taken a before picture, but I got excited to start and completely forgot.

Step 1: I washed and scrubbed that dresser so hard that I could have served dinner on it!

Step 2: I took out all of the previous handles that were on it to make it easier to paint.

Step 3: I laid out each piece on plastic in our garage.

Step 4: I used the same Benjamin Moore white paint that we used on the ceiling, window edges, and closet doors in the baby room. Can you notice how much nicer the bright white looks compared to that dirty white color from before?

Step 5: We went to Lowes and found darling new handles for the dresser. They were only 87 cents each!!

Step 6: We put on the handles...

And... ta-da!!! I wish you could see the transformation from old to new because it looks 150% better. I was thrilled with how it came out. I probably spent about $20 on the entire re-do and now I have a HUGE fantastic dresser for all my little boy's clothes, blankets, toys, etc!
