Helpful Money Management

So, since I have been getting off work a bit early to go and pick up my cousins, I have been able to listen to Dave Ramsey's talk show. I really enjoy listening to him as he is so inspiring about getting out of debt. It is not like we have much debt at all, but the thought of having a plan to pay off our car, Orlando's school debt, and a few medical bills, one step at a time makes the whole thing seem so much more doable! He talks about something called the "debt snowball" which is paying off the smallest debt first while still paying the minimum on your other debts. Once the smallest debt is payed off, you work on the second one using the money you would have used from the other payment plus the minimum payment of your second debt.. Anyway, I told my hubby last night that I am going to buy this book for us. I think it is very useful to learn how to use your money wisely, especially at a young age! Anyway, I am excited to buy this book and start paying off those debts, a little at a time! Thanks for stopping by!

Finding the perfect background....

Hi everyone,

Have you noticed I have changed my background like a million times since I started my blog just a few weeks ago? There are too many amazing free backgrounds out there and trying to pick out "the one" is darn near impossible! I absolutely love http://www.shabbyblogs.com/!!! My current background is from them. They have some fabulous blog backgrounds and blog headers and they are so easy to put up on your blog. I am not sure how long this new background will last, but for now, it is just perfect :)

Also thank you for all your comments! I can't tell you how excited I get when I open up my blog and it says "new comments"!

I have not had much time this week to work on any of my projects because my hubby and I are babysitting my cousins, 9 and 12, and between baseball practice, soccer practice, games, homework, packing lunches.... It has been a busy week.

Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Talk about an amazing dedicated blogger couple. This couple has so many interesting projects on their blog, you could spend hours browsing.

http://fortheloveofcooking-recipes.blogspot.com/
This blog has simple recipes on it. I love how the blogger takes a picture of all of the different ingredients before making the dish. For some reason, this approach makes the whole process seem a bit easier.

My friend Aileen, and her sister-in-law started this blog awhile back and look at it now! Advertisements and everything. The weddings on this blog are full of DIY projects that are truly amazing. I wish I would have had a year to look at all of these ideas before I planned my own wedding!

Renae was the first person I told when I started my very own blog. I was inspired by all her fun and inexpensive crafty creations!

One of my friends from college moved to Spain not long ago and started a fabulous cooking blog! I am exciting to start following it regularly! Thanks Rachel!

My Scrap Area!

I just finished a project in my craft area that I have been dreaming about for a long time: a way to organize all of my stickers/embellishments. So much of the time I would forget all of the great stuff I had and go buy new stuff. But, now, with it hanging right in front of me, I have no excuses! I used some basic jewelry wire from Michael's and clothespins from the dollar store... and this is what I came up with!

(Sorry about the white highlights, I can't get them off!!)

Very excited about completing this project! Hanging the stickers was super simple!
Have a great evening everyone!

Why is it snowing in April?

Sitting in my office, looking out the window and sighing very loudly and dramatically. Why is there snow coming down? Thank goodness it is not sticking or piling up, but still.. Seriously?

So I have many projects started, but none yet completed, thus no new postings. But, to try not to get discouraged, I will share with you the following projects I need to complete so you know at least I am doing SOMETHING....
  1. Put up new pictures on the wall by the head of our bed
  2. Put up all of my painted frames in my dining room
  3. Hang up new curtains in my bedroom
  4. Organize my scrapbook area (I mean like make it look goooooddd!!)
  5. Re-decorate my kitchen. There is seriously no theme in that room and I just don't like it!
  6. Start indoor planting of my seedlings. Maybe this year I will have some luck with planting a garden
  7. Label all of my scrapbooks by year (I already organized them in fabulous new albums, but now a label on each would be fantastic...
  8. Some day I dream of buying new couches. Right now we have these awful suede couch covers that drive me insane. Every time they get sat on they move out of place. I mean I don't even want to sit on them half the time.
  9. Figure out an organizational system for my husband...(this may take the rest of my life but it is worth a try)
I think that I need a new attitude about my to-do lists. Instead of "OMG I have so much to do and I am so stressed, I should think, you know what..? I have so many fun projects ahead of me I can barely wait to get started..." Hey, how's that for a positive outlook on life?"

Turkey in April

I know what you are thinking...Turkey in April? Well you see, my husband brought home a turkey from work in November but my Auntie Julie ended up already have a huge one for Thanksgiving so ours wasn't needed. So, this frozen 15lb bird has been taking up half our freezer for the last 5 months, and I HAVE HAD IT! So, I took it out to thaw on Thursday and Friday I found the "perfect turkey" recipe at allrecipies.com. Did my turkey turn out perfectly? Honestly the outer part was delicious but inside was still a bit raw.. bummer! But hey, at least it looked pretty right??

So, what do you think? If we are going on looks only, I must say.. wow! :)

Hi, my name is Amy :)

I used to think the only kind of blogs were for those who wanted to sit and write to the whole world about every aspect of their lives. I found this just ridiculous and told myself that I would NEVER ever have a blog. Then, in the last year or so, I started reading wonderful blogs full of crafts, recipes, decoration ideas, and I thought, this is really cool! I starting making mental lists of all the projects I wanted to accomplish in the next year and decided it would be motivation to know that maybe one person out there would be excited to see my next completed project... even if it is just my mother! :) There are also times I complete a fabulous scrapbook layout and I have nobody to show it too. Don't get me wrong-I have trained my husband to say, "Wow honey, that looks really nice".. But honestly, I know he really doesn't have any appreciation for fabulous papers and perfectly placed embellishments. And honestly, that is okay... I would be a bit worried if he cared about Tim Holtz fabulous scissors...

About my blog... This is not a themed blog, but I think more of a "rayz of sunshine" sort of blog. I will post anything that makes me happy or is a ray of sunshine in my life! I hope you enjoy ready my posts as much as I hope to enjoy posting them.

Remember: I am a first-time blogger, so cut me some slack, okay?

Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading!
